Faith and Giving

A Prayer Before Giving My Tithe

4 min read

Giving your tithe can be a meaningful moment to pause and remember God’s provision. Behind the amount you give are days of work, responsibilities, needs, and decisions about how to use what you have.

Before you give, take a moment to bring your heart to God. Thank Him for His care, speak honestly about any concerns, and ask Him to shape your giving with gratitude and love.

A Gentle Reminder Before You Give

In 2 Corinthians 9, Paul encourages generosity as believers contribute to the needs of others. His words invite us to consider the heart behind giving: willing, thoughtful, and free from compulsion.

As you bring your tithe, you can ask God to help you give sincerely and manage your resources wisely. You can also pray for those entrusted with the gift, that they will use it faithfully to serve people and support the work of the church.

A Prayer Before Giving My Tithe

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for providing for me and for the people in my care. Thank You for the strength to work, the opportunities I have received, and the help that has reached me through others.

As I bring this tithe, I pause to acknowledge Your goodness. Receive this gift as an expression of gratitude and worship.

Search my heart and help me give sincerely. Where I feel anxious, meet me with peace. Where I feel pride, teach me humility. Where giving has become a routine, renew my awareness of the people and work this gift can support.

Teach me to be generous with a willing heart. Help me give without seeking recognition or treating this gift as a way to bargain for blessings.

Please guide those who receive and manage these resources. Give them honesty, accountability, and wisdom. May this gift help meet real needs, encourage people, and support faithful ministry.

Give me wisdom with what remains in my care. Help me plan thoughtfully, fulfill my responsibilities, and recognize the difference between what I need and what I simply desire.

I bring You my financial concerns, too. Lead me toward practical help, sound decisions, and opportunities to provide for my household.

Let generosity shape the rest of my life, in the time I share, the care I offer, and the kindness I show.

Thank You for receiving my prayer.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
